Cruise and Learn
Have you dreamed of cruising in large powerboat with your family or with friends, exploring secluded islands and swimming in crystal clear waters? Or possibly you are thinking about purchasing your own powerboat and need some boat handling experience. Make your dream a reality with the Chapter II Charters live aboard Cruising Course.

Basic Power Boat Handling and Navigation (101)
(3 Days 2 Nights)

    Learn to act as a skipper and crew of a twin engine vessel 45' in length, cruising in coastal waters during daylight hours.

This course includes instruction in mechanical and electrical systems of the vessel, USCG required safety equipment , Rules of the Road , basic navigation and basic knot tying skills. Students will learn to perform engine room checks of all systems, preperatons to leave the dock, docking handling techniques, manuevering in close quaters with a twin engine vessel, basic piloting. tides and currents, use of marine VHF radio and anchoring techniques.

A Sample Itinerary

Day One

Check in aboard "Jammin' " in the afternoon. Enjoy refreshment as we get to know each other, the vessel and the cruising area. We will have dinnaer ashore at the marina and sleep aboard the first night at the marina.

Day Two

We will go over all systems aboard the vessel, perform engine room checklist and learn appropriate procedures for leaving the dock. Next we will get to know Jammin' under power as we head for our destination of Big Lagoon near Pensacola. We will practice navigation in route and gain some experience in anchoring at our destination. Then it's time for a swim or a walk on the secluded beach before dinner at this beautiful anchorage.

Day Three

We are up for an early breakfast and we plot our course for a tour of the Perdido Pass area and Terry Cove. Then it's around to Pirates Cove for lunch while learning to read a chart and use of GPS navigation equipment. the afternoon will be spent on manuevering skills and man overboard recovery. After a view of the sunset from Ingrams Bayou it's back to Bear Point Marina our homeport for a wrap up of the experience.
